Just some brief notes on upcoming website plans till I set the updates page back up. Need to put the thoughts somewhere somewhat organized. The goal is to have the "What's new?" box on the index list a few highlights and let that asterisk link back to the updates page. Updates will be more like a to-do list.
There's a lot of things bugging me that I've been meaning to take care of, so these are on the agenda. I don't like the widget for the guestbook and how it throws off the style of the rest of the site, but now that I'm a supporter I can now set it up with google forms / google sheets. Finally got the blog formatting figured out, so I'll add it to the navigation script after I'm done typing this here. Haven't been sure whether to make the blog a space for journaling, media analysis, personal essays, or whatever else. For now it's just going to be whatever, and maybe some trends will emerge that point to how it could be separated out.
Due to reworking all of the navigation and rebuilding many of the pages, there's unfortunately some links that will link to pages when I get those pages up, but currently lead to nothing. It kind of sucks when that's the case, so I need to get over the weird obstacles about pubishing things. It feels like it's related to the recent art block I've been dealing with. Drawing and writing have been very difficult to do, though a few things have slipped through. I've been focusing on textile work instead, as this is less affected for some reason. So I don't know at this point. My brain is kind of a mess, it's not a lack of ideas, but cycling through lots of ideas so fast that it's hard to grasp them any longer than a moment and I lose track of them very quickly. When it comes time to sit down and make something happen, the motivation seems to scurry away and I feel like some unfortunate creature caught under a harsh light and desperate to escape it. Which is super overdramatic for me asking my brain to let me draw something.
Anyway. I'm thinking that I can post some of the sketches related to my characters in the comics section for now. If I can't get something up in the writing and comics pages especially, I do have some ideas to do something with the nothing those links all point toward. It's a matter of running around with a butterfly net, gathering up enough focus and motivation to sit down and actually do it.
This all to say, I'm happy and thankful people have stuck with me through the construction and semi-deconstruction of this website, and that there's new folks coming in sometimes too. I want to make more cool things soon to show you.
